re: How The Kidney Stone Is Formed?
First of all there is a tendency due to family history or genetically linked that causes the collection and fusion of different particles from the body inside the kidney. These particles once combines, form stones. The most common particles are calcium and oxalate. Uric acid also deposited in the kidney and generates crystals. Beside these other chemical substances are also there. Till so far the main reason of formation of kidney stones is not clearly understood. It is thought that due to the consumption of such substances in the food they may give rise to the increase of above mentioned substances in the body and hence if the person does not take enough water they keep on depositing in the kidneys. One more culprit in this regard is infection in the urinary tract that may also leads to the formation of stones. Stones can also be formed in the urinary bladder. However; in the ureter that is the line from kidney to the urinary bladder the stones comes from kidneys and they are not generated here. Pain is very severe and un-bearable. Usually it is felt at the flank of the respective kidney. The pain also goes from the kidney to the umbilicus and also to the scrotum in males and vagina in females especially when the stone dislodges into the ureter from the kidneys. Patient may also experience nausea and vomiting as well.
After suspicion of kidney stone one has to be undergone relative investigations including X-rays and Ultrasound. Most of the stones if smaller in size spontaneously pass through urine with out any treatment. For bigger stones, Laser treatment or Lithotripsy is now being done and the stone is disintegrated into smaller pieces so that it can pass through easily. Surgery is avoided unless a big stone is there and not being broken via conservative methods. For uric acid stones medicines to decrease uric acid in the blood are also being given. The patient is advised to take plenty of water and avoid those foods that contain uric acid and calcium etc. For infections and infection related stones antibiotics are also given.
