My mother is ill since three months. She is suffering from high blood pressure, uncontrolled sugar etc. She is getting Insulin as well but no benefit has been obtained till so far. Specialist doctor has been consulted but the medications are not producing impact on the problems. What could be the reason for that? You are requested to tell us a good diet plan in this regard, that she use on daily basis. I am so much worried for her health.

1.cheeni aur cheeni say bani howi cheezaiN totaly band kar daiN. 2). oil /ghee yaa iss say bani howi cheezain band karain 3). bakery items bhi mokammal taur par band karaiN 4) chaawal /rice bhi band karain 5) zeyadah meeThay walay fruits band karaiN.

ajkal PCSIR say approve diet flour (aTTa) market maiN available hai iski chapaatiyaaN khayaiN.... raat ko chaar taa chay (4-6) adad bhindi (lady finger) ko cut karkay aik piyalay paani maiN Daal kar rakh daiN... nehaar mouNh yeh paani pee laiN aur bhindi bhi kachi chibaa kar khalaiN.... pani khasaa les.daar hojayegaa.... khanay maiN karelay /arwi aur sabz pattouN wali ashyaa use karaiN. brown bread / paapay bhi use kiye jasaktay haiN

Re: Uncontrolled Blood Pressure And Blood Sugar Level: Please Help

Please note that these two diseases are the basis of a lot of diseases. Hypertension and High blood pressure is called as silent killer. It is utmost important to control the normal blood pressure other wise serious out comes would results. In majority of cases, blood pressure is called as idiopathic means there has not been any cause of it. If I discuss the other causes of Hypertension then it would take much time. Let me tell you that if the blood pressure remains elevated at more occasions then Anti-Hypertensive treatment should be commenced promptly. In many cases blood pressure comes under control after initial therapy, however; if it remains uncontrolled despite taking medications then it means the medicines given to the patient are not appropriate and therefore the blood pressure is not being controlled. In that instance other causes of high blood pressure should also be considered. Like high fats or cholesterol in the blood or on the blood vessels, problems of other glands like adrenal glands (Pheochromocytoma), endocrine diseases like Cushingís syndrome etc. All of these things need to be evaluated. And finally the most appropriate medications must be commenced as early as possible. In the case of your mother she needs full evaluation by a cardiologist. She needs to have ECG, Echocardiography, Blood tests to check cholesterol and some other tests etc. A good cardiologist can give appropriate medication that can definitely control the blood pressure. Although as I have mentioned that high blood pressure is silent killer, however; it can be controlled. There is no case in the world where medical personal remained help less in controlling it. Control it before time elapsed.

Now I am coming towards the next issue of your mother which is Diabetes Mellitus. There are serious consequences on the different body parts if it remains uncontrolled. There are so many ways to control the blood sugar level. Diabetes is divided into two types I & II. Type I starts in the childhood due to the lack of insulin. Obviously since it is due to the lack of insulin therefore the only treatment in this condition is to provide insulin along with diet plan and exercise. Type II happens in the adult hood due to two reasons:

  • Deficiency of insulin
  • Insulin resistance

Means, insulin is being prepared but insufficient to control the blood sugar level. This called as insulin deficiency. In this instance oral hypoglycemic drugs or oral anti diabetic preparations are given along with diet control or exercise. There are a lot of medicines in this regard. Insulin can also be given in this type as well. Perhaps as it is given in your motherís case. However the second reason of type II is insulin resistance. According to an estimate every third individual in this world is suffering from insulin resistance. Some of them are known diabetic while others have hidden disease. Insulin resistance means insulin is not able to work on the target tissues in the body. If it is the case then neither exogenous insulin nor any diabetic preparation may help. Obesity may create the chances of insulin resistance. Fortunately we have a group of medicines targeting the insulin resistance as well. Those patients whose diabetes remains uncontrolled despite giving medications would get benefit from the medicines of insulin resistance since I have already mentioned that every third person in the world is suffering from insulin resistance ether evident or hidden. Therefore in your mother case she also needs to have addition of these medicines which can target her insulin resistance as well.

Sugar control is a dilemma and great patience is required to tackle this disease. All the diabetic patients either from type I or II are required to have regular exercise. The exercise has a beneficial role in the control of blood sugar level. The exercise should be done at least by brisk waking for 20 minutes thrice a week.

All sweet preparations are poison for diabetic patients. Sugary foods have very few nutrients and they increase the body weight but giving extra calories. Donít take too much salt in the diet  sicne it is also bad for people who have high blood pressure. Use garlic while cooking food. Avoid heavy oily and fatty meals. Use soybean oil and avoid ghee since it is also good for heart and blood vessels. For reference diabetic charts can be taken from the market or the book shops that can exactly tell to you what should be taken or avoided. Consult a good dietician and Diabetologist as well.
